As a national of a European Country [link] your right to work and live in the UK should be registered when you decide that you would like to become a resident of the UK. You may decide that one day you would also like to apply for a British Passport by registering yourself as an EU Resident in the UK. All this is possible. Under European Community law, your family includes:

  • Your husband or wife
  • Your or your husband's or wife's children or grandchildren (if they are under 21 years of age or if they are over 21 and dependent on you), and
  • Dependent relatives, for example your husband's or wife's parents or grandparents.

Do’s and Don’ts

Do's:

  • Apply now if you are already living and working in the UK as a European National;
  • You must show that you intend to make the UK your home;

Don’t

  • Don’t delay this process as your children’s rights, rights, if born in the UK, could be affected if you decide to apply for their British Passport.
