UK AncestryIn order to apply for Settlement in the UK under the UK Ancestry qualifying criteria you must demonstrate that you have legally completed 5 years leave to remain in the UK under the Ancestry criteria.In order to qualify for UK Ancestry the applicant must demonstrate that they are a commonwealth citizen over the age of 17, with evidence to prove that one of their grandparents were born in the UK and islands and that any such grandparent is their blood grandparent or a grandparent by reason of an adoption recognised by the laws of the United Kingdom relating to adoption. In addition to demonstrating UK Ancestry the applicant is required to demonstrate that they will maintain and accommodate themselves and any dependants adequately with out recourse to public funds. After the applicant has completed 5 years in the UK under UK Ancestry criteria having met the above requirements indefinite leave to remain may be granted, on application, to a Commonwealth citizen with a UK born grandparent provided they have met the above criteria and are in a position to demonstrate they have sufficient knowledge of the English Language and sufficient knowledge of life in the UK.
